I finally got to use the schools studio this morning (at the ungodly hour of 8am)
i was supposed to use a neumann U87 and pretty much just showcase what it can do.
didn't get much due to the stupid timeframe, but i did mange to get some pretty decent drum samples from the kit that was laying around.
and some recordings of my buddy alex doing some drop-ins for his radio show.
I was gonna get some trumpet and trombone samples too, but that didnt work out.
tonight is THUNDER OF THE GODS!, so i get to play rockstar with Caustic.
that should be pretty radical.

Date: 2009-05-08 08:00 pm (UTC)I've heard of people using them to mic amplifiers but that seems like an increible waste of a good mic.
Small diaphragm condensers will work better on drums, though, because their transient response is marginally quicker. If they give you a ...uh, U47, I think? - the little shotgun one - sample as many drums as you can with it because dude...dude they will sound awesome.
